Flop textures
The way you are going to play your starting cards on the flop, a lot depends on the texture of the flop. In general, we can highlight the following flop textures (flop types in poker):
Rainbow flop is a flop with three cards of different suits. The example of the rainbow flop in poker: . As you can see, flush draw is impossible on this type of the flop.
Two-suited flop is a flop with two of the three cards of the same suit. The example of the 2-suited flop in poker is . Player may have flush draw on this type of the flop.
Three-suited flop is a flop with all of the three cards on a board of the same suit. The example of the 3-suited flop in poker is . Player may have flush draw and flush on this type of the flop.
Paired flop is a flop with two cards of the same rank (a pair on the flop). An example of the paired flop: . Opponents might have many strong combinations on this type of the flop (trips, full house or quads).
Two-connected flop is a flop with two cards that are next in rank to each other (connectors). The example of the flop with two connectors: . Straight draws are possible on this type of the flop.
Three-connected flop is a flop with three cards of connected ranks. The example of 3-connected flop: . Player could have a ready straight and different straight draws on such flops.
Draw-heavy flop is a flop with big number of possible draw hands. The example of the draw-heavy flop: . Flush and straight draws are possible on such flops together with ready straight combinations.
Dry flop is a flop without any obvious possibilities to make a strong made hand or a draw. The example of the dry flop: .
